Rotordynamics of Turbomachinery

Chapter I begins immediately to describe some of the simplest mathematical models that give insight into the principle rotordynamic phenomena which can be experimentally observed on a rotating machine. Thereafter, each chapter and section begins with a purely verbal account of what is known about the topic and then begins to develop a foundation for the more advanced analytical models and mathematical methods which have been found useful and powerful. The last part of chapter VII gives a detailed description of the most recently developed methods for rotordynamic stability analysis, using a digital computer. Chapter VIII describes recently developed electronic measurement tools and measurement techniques, which not only can be used for troubleshooting but are also invaluable for research where predictions of the theory can now be verified or modified as required.
